On my Facebook Live today, I shared some cards I “stepped up” with just a bit of embossing.  The cards were simple and beautiful to begin with, but with just an extra step, it goes from great to WOW!

Here’s the first card, before embossing:

This card base is the new Terracotta Tile color.  Isn’t it beautiful? I was thinking that it was Calypso Coral!  Very close!!  I love the new Mosaic Mood specialty designer paper.  If you remember, I had featured some fancy fold cards on my blog previously using this gorgeous paper.  Here’s another beautiful pattern!!  I still need to add a sentiment or some bling to the card, but I will do that when I know what I’m using this card for.
So, that was a very beautiful card, but check out how just a bit of embossing steps it up!!
This card has an extra layer of embossed cardstock — I used the Mosaic 3D folder to emboss the layer over the card base.  It is the same color, but by adding the embossing, it looks like a totally different, more WOW card.  I DID add the sentiment and ribbon as well as flipping the card since the pattern seemed to lend itself to that – this also adds to the wow factor, but I truly believe that the embossed layer was the difference.  I will have the card dimensions and supply list below.
Happy birthday to Kelly, my friend whom I made this card for!!  I hope she has a very special birthday!

Card “Recipe”:

Card 1:

Layer 1: Terracotta Tile c/s, 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
Layer 2: Garden Green c/s, 3 1/4″ x 4 1/4″
Layer 3: Mosaic Mood specialty DSP (rose pattern): 3″ x 4″
Cut and score your cardstock and designer paper as above. Assemble the layers and your card is completed.

Card 2:

Layer 1: Terracotta Tile c/s, 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
Layer 2: Terracotta Tile c/s, 4″ x 5 1/4″, embossed with the Mosaic 3d embossing folder
Layer 3: Garden Green c/s, 3 1/4″ x 4 1/4″
Layer 4: Mosaic Mood specialty DSP (rose pattern): 3″ x 4″
Layer 5: So Saffron c/s: scrap, cut with 7/8″ x 2 3/8″ stitched rectangle die.
Cut and score your cardstock and designer paper as above. Emboss the smaller Terracotta Tile c/s layer with the Big Shot and the Mosaic 3d embossing folder. Stamp the So Saffron c/s scrap with “Happy Birthday” from the Well Said stamp set in Terracotta ink and cut out with the above stitched rectangle die.  Assemble the layers as per the photo.  Pop up the sentiment with dimensionals.  Add a Petal Pink 5/8″ striped organdy ribbon bow with a glue dot to the right of your sentiment. Your card is completed.
Join me tomorrow for another embossed card “before and after”.  Please note that the supply list has supplies for BOTH of the cards shown above.
