Good morning all! Can you believe it’s already July 8th?! Wow, summer is flying!!
I was enjoying my coffee this morning while scrolling through my email, and I came across a post from Angie Leach at Too Cool Stamping. She used the Garden in Bloom stamp set to do the Emboss Resist technique.
I usually case almost exactly, but since I want to develop my own style, I decided to switch things up a bit. ( I should also admit that the card changed a bit because I jumped here and there in Angie’s directions without fully absorbing the colors she used. Angie used a combination of colors, and I noticed it as monochromatic for some reason!).
I love the new Mint Macaron color and I know many of my stampers do too, so that’s the color I chose for today’s card.
I cut the Mint Macaron cardstock (c/s) to3 5/8″ x 4 7/8″. Using the Watercolor Words stamp set, I first stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment in VersaMark ink, then randomly stamped the large flower three times (off the paper once), using the same ink. *Use your embossing buddy over the entire piece of cardstock before stamping so the static doesn’t pick up stray embossing powder!
Next, sprinkle Whisper White embossing powder over the entire sheet of cardstock that you just stamped. Heat the stamped images with the Heat Gun.
Now, for the fun Emboss Resist technique: using a Sponge Dauber and more Mint Macaron ink, lightly sponge around the embossed words and images. Start with your dauber almost off the paper (the initial dauber holds a lot of ink and it will be concentrated where you start!), then “daub” in a circular motion. Pick up more ink with your dauber as you need to, but remember that it’s easier to add ink than take it away!!
You’ll notice that my large flowers have the smaller flower added to the centers: stamp the small flowers on a scrap piece of Mint Macaron c/s, using the same technique as above (versamark, white embossing powder, heat gun). “Daub” the entire small flowers, then cut out. I decided that I didn’t like my flowers “popped up” which is unusual for me!!
Attach the Mint Macaron layer to a 3 13/16″ x 5 1/6″ piece of Whisper White cardstock, then attach these layers to a Mint Macaron c/s base, 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″.
That’s it!! This card can easily be replicated in different colors, and I’m sure there are other line image stamps that Stampin’ Up sells too!!
