Hi everyone! Welcome back to another day on my new blog platform! (If you’re just joining me from my old blog on Typepad, you can view my old posts here until September 15th.)
You’ll see today’s card again — it’s going to be one of the cards in my monthly Christmas Card Class:
I used the single Dasher stamp as my focal point, embossing it in gold. I tried to distress it — those who know me well know that distressing does not come easy to me, and is in fact “distressing” in itself LOL! I popped it up on dimensionals.

The cardstock is Cherry Cobbler (a new SU! core color) and Old Olive. Underneath the Cherry Cobbler base layer is SU’s brushed gold cardstock — something to add a “little something”.

Don’t you love the designer paper? It’s Jolly Holiday, 1 of the many new designer paper packs that you can buy from me through Stampin’ Up! This design is one of 6 different double-sided papers that you will get in the package. Lovely!

I wanted a background on my Cherry Cobbler cardstock, so I stamped with VersaMark ink, using the Tree Trimmings stamp set. I used my VersaMark pen to ink the lines. Very simple, but it gives that “little extra something” to the card I think. Don’t you? Stamps:

In the samples below, you can see the cards closer. I used the Bitty Punch and Real Red brads for the accent — the shimmer you see on the brads (that I think look like little Christmas wreaths LOL!) is from the new Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink! So neat!

My Design Tips for the Day:

  • Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink: Goes on just like nail polish! It has a small stiff applicator brush which is perfect to apply to small, detailed areas. It comes in 4 colors: Illuminate Top Coat, Gold Lame, Moonlight, and Silver Fox. The Illuminate Top Coat that I used adds subtle illumination and sparkle!
  • Don’t have background paper in the color or style you’re looking for?! Make your own! The VersaMark pad adds the subtle, tone-on-tone ink a couple of shades darker than the cardstock you’re using without being “too much”.
  • The Cutter Kit is and great little portable cutter kit: it includes a rotary cutter, a perforating tool, a scoring tool, and a 7-sided distressing tool, all easily kept together with a simple chain. How much handier can you get?!
