Some of you have been patiently waiting for me to answer the question. About what?? Well, I bet that you would like to know how I made this cute little fairy house! To answer this, I need to link you to Jill Hilliard’s blog The House that Jill Built. I saw all the adorable little houses that a bunch of demonstrators on her team made for a blog hop using her house template.
I bought the kit through Jill so I’m afraid I can’t give the exact dimensions/tutorial without her permission. I can give some details about the house though.
Don’t you just love the little picket fence?? I used the new Jewlery Tag Punch to make the fence – punched out multiple tags and glued them about 1/2″ apart on a strip of cardstock (on both sides to make it sturdy). the chimney is a cynlinder of Brushed silver cardstock – I made small cuts (approximately 1/4″ into the bottom to give the chimney something to adhere to the top of the roof. I made a small slit with my hobby blade and was able to stick it inside the roof. The top of the chimney was a 1 1/4″ circle cut to the middle and glued together to make a hat. I used some moss from my garden to make the chimney smoke. The roof? I just layered 2″ inch strips cut the length of my roof and punched the edge with my scallop edge punch to give it a slanted shingled look. I shaded it with my chocolate chip ink.
The mailbox was shaped with chocolate chip cardstock – if you look closely at it, you can see that it has a bottom and I folded over a scrap of cardstock to make it look like a mailbox. The flag is up because it is your Stampin’ Up! order inside all ready to ship to you. The door is cut out of another piece of chocolate chip cardstock. I used the woodgrain background stamp. I made a cute window box using more scraps of cardstock and punched out flowers with my Trio Flower Punch.
The house was stamped on all sides with the Inspired by Nature grass. That was my stamp set in the Royal Blog Tour last week. Check out my previous post. It is the perfect backdrop for the fairies from the “A Little bit of Magic” stamp set in the current mini catalog. Of course I had to add some glitter on the fairies, the toadstools and the flowers. Don’t you just love Dazzling Diamonds glitter? I don’t need to wear makeup because I am usually covered in glitter. The final touch? – some butterflies using the Beautiful Wings Embosslits. The house is definitely a lot of work but soooo beautiful. I can close it with a small velcro tab. The only problem, I didn’t take any pictures of the cards that I put inside.
