I just love the colors on the card I created here today. This project is one of 3 that features the Mosaic Moods specialty paper. What I do NOT feature is the stamp set, showing you that it is so versatile even if you don’t have the stamps.
This card is similar to a card I received in a swap at On Stage in April — the card was part of a Fancy Fold/Fancy card. It doesn’t have any special folds, but the technique is quite fun and unique I think.
The paper has two sides – a matte side, and a matte side with glossy textured elements. This particular card uses the matte side of the paper and has butterflies and flowers on it. I immediately thought of Beauty Abounds with its gorgeous matching butterfly dies.
To make this card, I used the rectangle dies to cut my Mint Macaron and designer paper layers. *If you don’t have these dies yet, put them on your wish list. They are SO useful!! Not only can I cut layers, but it’s also great for the sentiments that I want to pop up and don’t necessarily have a matching die for.

Card “Recipe”
Dimensions:
So Saffron c/s: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
Mint Macaron c/s: 4″ x 5 1/4″, cut with largest stitched rectangle die (die measures 5 1/8″ x 3 3/4″).
Mosaic Mood Specialty Designer Paper: 5″ x 3 1/2″, cut with 3rd largest stitched rectangle die (final measurement 4 3/4″ x 3 3/8″)
Mint Macaron c/s scrap: 2 3/4: x 2 3.4: cut out square frame using the 2nd and 4th largest square dies, final measurement 2 5/8″ square with square window cut out, 2 1/8″ square.
So Saffron c/s scrap: 2 3/4: x 2 3.4: cut out square frame using the 2nd and 4th largest square dies, final measurement 2 5/8″ square with square window cut out, 2 1/8″ square.
Very Vanilla c/s scrap: ___, stamped with “flower vine” image from Beauty Abounds stamp set and colored in with light Mint Macaron and So Saffron blends markers.
Very Vanilla c/s scrap: 1″ x 1″ for butterflies – stamp (2) butterflies with Early Espresso ink and carefully color in the butterflies with the light So Saffron blends marker. (I essentially “dotted” the butterfly wings with the So Saffron blends so the Early Espresso ink would not “muddy”.) Cut out butterflies images with Big Shot and Beautiful Butterfly coordinating dies.
14″ length of Gold Metallic Edge ribbon, colored with dark So Saffron blends marker.
Directions:
Cut the Mint Macaron mat layer with the largest Stitched Rectangle die. Cut the Designer Paper layer with the 2nd-largest rectangle dies and attach to the Mint Macaron mat layer. Tie the colored length of Gold Metallic Edge ribbon around both layers and set aside.
After cutting the Mint Macaron and designer paper layers, I then used two different sizes of the square dies (with the straight edges), placing one size inside the other while cutting to create a frame for the So Saffron and Mint Macaron squares. (Save the inside squares for another project.) Snip a side of the So Saffron square so you can weave it through the Mint Macaron one. Do it in an inconspicuous spot on the side (using my photo as guide) so the cut is hidden behind elements of the card. After weaving, attach both square frames to the top center of the designer paper layer — attach the stamped and colored vine square over top. Adhere both butterflies to each side of the square, popping up with dimensionals if desired. Again, make sue your cut for the square is hidden either behind the other squares or the butterflies. Attach all layers to the card base.
